Muslim Women

I am a Muslim woman
Feel free to ask me why
When I walk
I walk with dignity
When I speak
I do not lie

I am a Muslim woman
Not all of me you’ll see
But what you should appreciate
Is that the choice I make is free

I’m not plagued with depression
I’m neither cheated nor abused
I don’t envy other women
And I’m certainly not confused

Note, I speak perfect English
I’m majoring in Linguistics
So you need not speak slowly

I run my own small business
Every cent I earn is mine
I drive my Chevy to school & work
And no, that’s not a crime!

You often stare as I walk by
You don’t understand my veil
But peace and power I have found
As I am equal to any male!

I am a Muslim woman
So please don’t pity me
For God has guided me to truth
And now I’m finally free!

I AM A MUSLIM BUT ONLY BY NAME

I AM A MUSLIM BUT ONLY BY NAME

I am a Muslim, but only by name
When it comes to practising, what a shame!
I go to friends and relatives in suit and tie
It’s alright if I occasionally lie
Yes I practise, BUT when it suits me
Or more to the point, when it pleases society.
If I show my ankles, they’ll point and laugh
They’ll think it’s too short and reckon I’m daft.
If I trim my moustache and grow the beard
They’ll reckon I’m a fanatic or something weird.
If I wear the sunnah I’ll get great reward
But the Kuffaar will look down on me, that I can’t afford.
Yes I’m a Muslim, but only by name
I make excuses which I admit are rather lame.
Yes I’m a sane man and I’m on the right track
Who am I kidding, I feel like a right jack!
To hide my inferiority complex I protest it’s unimportant
Though my heart screams to tell me I’m a blatant fraudulent
The best thing is no-one can hear what’s going on inside
People think I’ve got it made and with my life I’m satisfied.
But I’m afraid this is a fable and it’s a pure deception
I have no peace of mind but this I daren’t even mention.
If I remain ignorant it’s OK, ‘cos then I don’t have to practise
Yes I’m conniving and these are baseless evil tactics.
But I read the Kalima and I think I have Imaan
I can’t help my attitude – I was placed in a Kufrstaan.
Yes I’m a Muslim but only by name
And with my precious life I’m playing a foolish disastrous game!

Nothing is easy, until God makes it easy…

They say with time it gets easier but sometimes it really doesn’t. The realisation of what’s lost becomes more evident. The memories replay over & over. The temporary distractions stop working & the reality of the situation sets in. A big hole. And we as humans need that hole to be filled.  And you know […]

The Women I Admire

The Woman I admire

Wearing her attire

Hiding her figure,
Thus,

Curbing my desire..

The Woman I desire
Fearing the (hell) Fire
Is diligent in her prayers
For the rewards of life hereafter…

The Woman I encounter
Is beyond bother
With the keen race
To beautify the face!

The Woman I ask
From dawn to dusk
Is busy with ALLAH
Murmuring,

Subhan’allah,

Subhan’allah,

Subhana’allah

The Woman

I observe
Certainly deserves
Better respect
Than what she expects

The Woman

I listen
Is very,

Very stern
For her it is a must
To control one’s lust

But the Women

I see sad to say, most wear “minis”
Alone I lament…

“VIAGRA on heels”?
Though they are not made for this!

The Woman

I met
Boasting her beauty
Most probably by surgery?
But does she know it is all temporary?

Hence, the Woman

I know is advised to follow
The sunnah of our beloved Rasulullah
From head to toe….

The Woman

I judge often bears a grudge
EQUALITY,

She requests (or rather protests)
But please bear in mind ALLAH’S inquest!

The Women I hurt (by this article)
Please do not curse or smut
For it is better I warned
Before all is gone…

“God is sufficient for us, and He is the best Disposer of affairs” (Quran 3:173)

He will keep breaking your heart until you learn. Learn that the flawed attachments you have with the world and what it has to offer, will destroy your Aakhira (Hereafter). So out of His mercy, He causes that attachment to hurt you, He takes it away, or He shows you something of it which you […]

Who Does NOT Speak for Islam

Written by Theresa Corbin Much has been written about who speaks for Islam. There’s this book, cleverly entitled Who Speaks for Islam, by Dr. Esposito and Dalia Mogahed that discusses this exact topic. There is this recent Pathoes blog post that tackles the topic as it pertains to Americans. It is an interesting topic since […]

This Thing Called Parenting

I’m looking for the manual— you know the one that tells you all about how to raise a kid? Okay, so there’s no instruction booklet for raising children, but there’s still a responsibility to use all the resources we have, right? I’m the least qualified to be handing out parenting tips (I’m not even a […]

Meteorology in the Quran

Do you not see that Allah drives clouds? Then He brings them together, then He makes […]
