Oh, bird of prey
you came my way
On a cold and cloudy day.
I froze in fear
And begged for you to please go away.
Suddenly, you swooped to earth–
And a sparrow met his last day.
Then I watched as you flew
Back to your branch so high–
Cocking your head, spreading your wings
And looking at me with a glare so fierce
I almost cried.
And then in the stillness of the morning
I swear I heard you say–
“It would be very wise for you to learn
how to pray–today!”
