Hope in the Eyes

Hope in the Eyes

Hope in the eyes
Of the man on the street
With a sign that says
“Will work for food.”
Hope in the eyes
Of the childe in school
Who eats his only meal
Of the day and is granted seconds.
Hope in the eyes
Of the mother with babes in her arms
Who stands in line for
Food and assistance
Hope in the eyes of people everywhere
Who only need a helping hand.
What do you do, when you see
Hope in the eyes?

What Have We Come To?

What Have We Come To?

Groping in the darkness
For a word, a friendly deed;
Left behind an empty shell
Where the love of friendship used to be.
Instead of heartfelt hugs –
An empty stare, a broken tie;
Both lost in different worlds
And neither knowing why.
When the rain begins to fall
On a sea of broken smiles
Our worlds go rushing onward,
And we can’t breach the miles.
It is too bad that we have come to
This cold, uncaring space;
What we’ve shared, what we’ve lost
Nothing can replace.
We’ve forgotten every good thing
Think of only bad
My heart breaks for losing
The friendship we once had.

I’ve Gone To Heaven

I’ve Gone To Heaven

I’ve gone to heaven,

So please don’t weep,

Treasure my memories,

Don’t let them sleep

Day after day and,

Year after year Just think of me,

I’ll always be there.

I’ve  gone to heaven,

So please don’t weep,

Treasure my memories,

Don’t let them sleep.

Don’t cry for me ,

Don’t shed a tear,

 I am with god,

I have no fear.

I loved you all,

With all my heart,

But,

Now it is time for us to part.

I’ve gone to heven,

So please don’t weep,

Treasure my memories,

Don’t let them sleep.

My soul will be with you where ever you go,

From this day forward,

This you must know.

So now I lay me down to sleep,

I’ll pray the lord my soul to keep.

I’ve gone to heaven,

So please don’t weep,

Treasure my memories,

Don’t let them sleep.

The River

The River

One day I saw
My own face on my wall;
It looked like a girl from the streets.

I remember that fall
My own face on my wall,
A vision of faith and defeat.

But the river still runs under me.

Someday I’ll find that love somewhere,
and that someday,
I’ll be right next to you.
