Step 2

Contemplate in their meaning sentence by sentence and word by word

New Moon

The new moon has been sighted Shaaban is over Ramadhan has begun

And I’m so excited
I wake up for suhoor

And see the feast

But unable to eat much

Because images flash in front of me

About those who are poor

And will have nothing but water and a piece of bread

If they are lucky
As I begin my fast

I see images of my ummah being blasted

By the dastardly and cowardly

From five thousand feet high

Who don’t care who they hit, kill and maim

Even during Ramadhan
I read the Quran

And struggle after a few pages

My eyes turn bleary

Concentration wanes

And I think about my brothers

Resisting injustice

In far away lands And I shed a few tears
Iftar time

And my favorite delicacies are missing

I start complaining

I fail to see the blessing

For that which

I have

And always crave for more
I stand for terrawaih

My feet ache

I count the rakahs

Wishing the Imam would hurry

But my brothers in lands far away

Have no choice

But to stand and protect

The Ummah’s dignity

From the marauding crusaders
Eid is night

I buy new clothes

And shops are busy

In the hustle and bustle

I think of the widows and orphans

Struggling to make do

Wearing rags and just surviving

Sometimes begging and prostituting
My days are carefree

Without worry

Or stress

While the majority of the Ummah

Suffer and live in poverty
So ungrateful Disrespectful

For all that Allah has blessed me with
Maybe if Allah swapped me

With those who have little

Then I would contemplate

And appreciate

The mercy of Allah

Towards me and family
But those in hardship

Appreciate the little

And not belittle

What they have

And thank Allah

For the things we take for granted

Especially the Quran
Turning to it constantly

For inspiration

And Motivation

As they struggle on a daily basis

To Make Allah’s word high

See

“You’ll never see a rainbow

Without going through a little rain,

So no matter how tough things may get,

Don’t give up, or despair

. Persevere in patience,

Turn to Allah SwT for guidance and support

And understand that there is a wisdom behind trials

That we’re not always able to perceive. “

Help Us Lord

Help us, dear Lord.

We pray
To show the world the way
To conquer drink,

Drugs,

Hate,

And greed.
Show us in your kindness how to succeed,
Then we can help each other when life is on the blink.
If you will only show us the proper way to think,
With your help behind us,

From you helping hand
We could surely make this a really Islamic  land.
This lovely world you gave us was for all to share:
People of every nation, wildlife everywhere.
It isn’t theirs or ours;

It is a gift from you
To be shared with all creation,

Our whole life through.
Loving one another,

Spreading peace across all lands:
People of every creed and denomination,

Holding hands,
Joining in the prayer,

For a better way.
Help us, dear Lord, we pray.

Still

Still I fail to medicate myself
Still I continue to devastate myself
By doing what I know to be a sin
Have I been given a guarantee that in the end
I will Win?

Just because I’m still alive and have an easy living
Doesn’t mean that I’ve been forgiven.
Yes I’m still alive, but how can I expect to survive
Life in the displeasure of Allah?

I say I “love Allah”, but does Allah love me?
Let’s see, just how real is this so-called “Spirituality”
that you profess to possess
But when you’re alone you digress and don’t confess!

Thought that you could fool `em
with that beard And that hijab
Not realizing that at your own heart you have
Taken the deepest stab.

Thought that you could fool them with that thobe
And veil over your face!
How dumb you must have looked in front of the One
Who’s knowledge, hearing and sight penetrate every place!

Why do you feel so secure that Allah is going to forgive you everytime?
Do you really feel secure as you drive home from the scene of your crime?

How do you know the wrath and punishment of Allah isn’t waiting for you around the corner?
Don’t you know that the Angel of Death strikes without A warner?

How long do I think I have to make things right?
By Allah! If I knew the reality of my sins, I couldn’t sleep at night!
Afraid of closing my eyes from fear of dying in my sleep!
Only to wake up in a grave so dark, lonely and deep!

-Who’s your Lord? my own desires…
-Who’s your Prophet? my own desires…
-What’s your religion? following my own desires…
-Well welcome to the Fire! -Welcome to the fire!!

What an awful place to retire!
