The Ruling on Speaking while the Quraan is being Recited from a tape/CD/recorder
What is the legislative ruling for talking during the recitation of the Qur’an in general gatherings, like if the Qur’an is recited from a tape and a group of people are talking, what is the ruling on this action?
Shaykh Muhammad ibn Saalih Al-‘Uthaymeen:
Allah the Most High states, {So when the Qur’an is recited, then listen to it and give it due attention so that you may receive mercy}. [Soorah Al-‘Araaf: 204]
Thus, if we have a recorder playing the sound of a reciter (while we are talking); either we turn off the recorder or we listen to him. However. remaining in our chatter and talking as if we only hear the sounds of humans, then this is contrary to having manners with the Quran.
So here I say, that either we turn off the…

AQEEDAH OF IMAM SHAFI (The Imam Of Ahlus Sunnah)

Authentic Knowledge from Quran & Sunnah

Imam Ibn Qayyim (rahimahullah) mentioned in his book Ijtimaa’ juyoosh Al Islamiyyah that Imam Al Shafie, Nasir us Sunnah said,
“My stance on Sunnah on which I am, and I saw our companions on it from Ahl al Hadith like Sufyan and Malik and others, is to testify that there is no one worthy of worship other than Allah and that the Muhammad is the messenger of Allah and that…

Seekers of Knowledge

Q) How can a woman pray Taraweeh in her house?

What are the procedures for praying Taraweeh at home? Is it required for a woman to have memorised the Book of Allah in order to pray Taraweeh on her own? Or is it sufficient for her to recite that which she has memorised?

A) Praise be to Allah

It is better for a woman to pray in her house than in the mosque, whether that is an obligatory or supererogatory (naafil) prayer, including Taraweeh prayer.

The scholars of the Standing Committee said:

A woman’s praying in her house is better for her than her praying in the mosque, whether it is an obligatory or supererogatory prayer, Taraweeh or otherwise.

End quote from Fataawa al-Lajnah ad-Daa’imah – vol. 1 (7/201)

A woman may pray Taraweeh at home according to whatever she is able to do, paying attention to the…

Why did ‘Uthmaan burn the books? Did He make his own copy of the Qur’aan?

Seekers of Knowledge

CPosted April 20, 2009 by DhanNoon in Qur’aan and Debates

The Qur’aan was revealed in 7 Ahruf (texts).

Islam began to spread to the non-Arabs. Uthman (رضي الله عنه) burned all 6 dialects except the first revealed one to the Quraish from fear that the new Muslims from amongst the non-Arabs will get confused and think that it’s a different book altogether while in reality it’s the same with different dialects of the Arabs. For one who understands al lugha al ‘arabiyya, he knows that this is not a difference anyone would worry about.

Preservation of the Qur’an

When Prophet Muhammad received the Qur’aan’s Revelations, he had everything documented on paper and saved with his close disciples and immediate family. He also had the entire  Qur’aan memorized along with many of his followers. This led to The Qur’aan’s preservation to this day.

When ‘Uthmaan, the third Caliph, compiled the Qur’aan…

Don’t Be Afraid to Be a Difficult Patient

One of my favorite Seinfeld episodes is the one where Elaine snoops inside her medical chart and reads “patient is difficult.” The doctor takes a look at her rash and says, “Well, this doesn’t look serious,” and writes something in the chart. “What are you writing?” she asks. He sneers and walks out the door.…
