Thomas Merton’s Prayer

Most days I feel like this poem

Therese J. Borchard

I pray Thomas Merton’s prayer every day for discernment. In case you’re not familiar with it, I thought I’d share it here.

My Lord God, I have no idea where I am going.
I do not see the road ahed of me.
I cannot know for certain where it will end.
Nor do I really know myself, and the fact that
I think I am following Your will does not mean that I am
actually doing so.

But I believe that the desire to please You
does in fact please you.
And I hope I have that desire in all that I am doing.
I hope that I will never do anything apart from that desire.
And I know that, if I do this, You will lead me by the right road,
though I may know nothing about it.

Therefore I will trust You always though I may seem to…

Invisible I Am

I will never have a big fancy house.
I will never have a new or fast car.
I will never have the trendy or cool clothes.
I don’t have many friends because I don’t easily open myself up.
I look at people and they look right through me.
I have all the time in the world but none is given to me.
I’m not given a second thought because I’m not thought about first.
My heart aches for love and my soul screams for it’s mate.
but only silent echos are returned.
Happiness a fading memory, a forgotten dream from childhood.
Have I nothing to give or offer to suffice ones wanting desires.
Would I even be remember If I disappeared.
I am not really here, I live but I’m not alive.
I speak but I am not heard.
I am invisible.

9 Ways to Let of Stuck Thoughts

this is well written will be using next time I have a stuck thought

Therese J. Borchard

Graziella Stuck thoughts … the brick walls that form a prison around your mind. The harder you try to get rid of them, the more powerful they become. I’ve been wrestling with stuck thoughts ever since I was in fourth grade. The content or nature of the obsessions have morphed into many different animals over the course of 30-plus years, but their intensity and frequency remains unchanged. Here are some strategies I use when they make a surprise visit, techniques that help me free myself from their hold.

1. Don’t Talk Back

The first thing you want to do when you get an intrusive thought is to respond with logic. By talking back, you think you can quiet the voice. However, you actually empower the voice. You give it an opportunity to debate with you and make its case. The more you analyze the obsession –“That is a silly thought because…

I have known

I have known the good, I have known the bad,
I have known the light, I have known the darkness,
I have known companionship, I have known loneliness,
I have known love, I have known hate,
I have known pure joy, I have known pain,
I have known life, I have known death,
I have known knowledge, I have known ignorance,
I have known courage, I have known fear,
I have known bliss, I have known insanity,
but the greatest thing I could ever have known is you, and you have known me.

Free Fall into Despair and Depression

I thought I was on a level ground for the past month and a half or so I felt good only had a few days of mild depression then on the 8th woke up feeling depressed mildly with irritation then the next day my month friend arrives but she arrived a week and a half late and with her comes moderate depression when examining what has changed in the last little bit all I can find is small things lots of small things nothing big or life changing.

Thing number  1. is the weather it sucks it is hot but not dry hot it is hot and humid the sticky makes everyone cranky and drains all your life force hot getting wet only makes you feel worse .

Thing number 2 . I am bored as in I have nothing to do it’s to hot to walk outside in the day time and I ran out of yarn over a month and a half ago , don’t have any books to read and there’s no library in this town .

Thing number 3. my skin hurts it feels weird like scaly and so dry have put oil on it but then it burns and stings , sweat also makes it burn and sting then it itches like mad  , if I was back in USA I would just go to see a doctor and have them help me deal with it but here I just have to suffer and deal on my own best as I can , also my scalp is dry and flaky oil didn’t help and I am in such a hick town that there is no were to buy anti itch shampoo .

Thing number 4. I have to deal with teens and tweens trying to take over my computer which is not cool and makes me mad I don’t mind sharing but when one of them changes my password then tells me they didn’t it just makes me want to scream . Oh and then there’s my screaming whiny duo and the cranky teething baby

three word poem

 I found a

a black cloud
full of rain
and lots of pain
I am falling
like the rain
 and I can’t
so I shy
retreating to my
sad little happy
place I call
my beautiful wonderland
where everyone hears
my sad plea
but doesn;t listen
because they are
unable to understand
how full of
despair and angush
through thick and
 thin forever and
 ever they held
onto hope and
onto faith and
no matter how
bleak the situation
it was sad
being a little
like a grain
of sand glistening
in the very
very bright light
of a very
lost and dreaming
can’t stop screaming
as the wind
tore through howling
the written word
can be truth
represent in knowledge
learning is power
a power unbeatable
ruling the world
a dark alley
in moonlit glow
the flowers grow
in a row
then away they
go to die

sad life poem

 the haze surrounds
 with unbearable sounds
like a growling
 buried deep within
the depths of
a tortured soul
is so soft
 and so fragile
handle it careful
Said the rabbit
and the Joker
To the sky
 I shall try
not to run
against the wind
on hot coals
To the moon
 i shall travel
Across the world
 with a monkey
on my back
 it’s weight unbearable
 heavy to bear
my legs hurting
with dirty shoes
 I sing blues
drinking a glass
of liquid hope

Life moods

Some of you may recognise this ….

Some things in life are bad
They can really make you mad
Other things just make you swear
And curse
When you’re chewing on
Life’s gristle
Don’t grumble, give a whistle
And this’ll help things turn out for the best…
…always look on the bright side
Of life…
Always look on the light side
Of life…
If life seems jolly rotten
There’s something you’ve forgotten
And that’s to laugh and smile and
Dance and sing
When you’re feeling in the dumps
Don’t be silly chumps
Just purse your lips and whistle
– that’s the thing.
And…always look on the bright
Side of life…
Come on.
Always look on the bright side
Of life…
For life is quite absurd
And death’s the final word
You must always face the curtain
With a bow
Forget about your sin – – give the
Audience a grin
Enjoy it – it’s your last chance
So always look on the bright side
Of death
Just before you draw your
Terminal breath
Life’s a piece of shit
When you look at it
Life’s a laugh and death’s a joke
It’s true
You’ll see it’s all a show
Keep ’em laughing as you go
Just remember that the last laugh
Is on you
And always look on the bright side
Of life…
Always look on the right side
Of life…
Come on , cheer up.
Always look on the bright side
Of life…
Always look on the bright side
Of life…
Always look on the bright side
Of life…

Worse things happen at sea you know.

Always look on the bright side
Of life…
I mean – what have you got to lose?
You know, you come from nothing
– you’re going back to nothing.
What have you lost? Nothing.
Always look on the right side
Of life…

All of us pray our five prayers every day but if we Understand

the purposce of praying…this will help you concentrate …..

Some good points which might help us to concentrate better:
Do you know the reason you say Allah Akbar (Allah is greater) every time you move in a prayer?
It’s a reminder that Allah is greater than anything you might be thinking about from this world.
So be honest when you say Allah Akbar and remember He is greater than anything that is occupying your mind while you pray.
When you go to the position of Ruku, feel and tell Allah with your heart that you will never kneel to anyone.
And when you say Samia Allah hu liman hamidah (Allah hears who thanks Him)
and you say Rabbana lakal Hamd (Thanks to you my lord) you are
thanking Him for honoring you and making you stand straight not like the other creatures who walk on four with their back bent.
Thank Him for making you able to move and pray.
When you go to the first Sajdah feel that you are representing the earth which you came from and when you get up after the first Sajdah feel that you are representing the first time He created you from the earth.
When you go on the second Sajdah again on the ground, feel that you are representing when you die and you go back to the ground and when you get up the second time feel that you are representing the second time when Allah brings you back from the dead on the Day of Judgment, therefore, concentrate with every movement and feel it.
This way we won’t forget whether its our first sujood or the second sujood.
Make a lot of du’aa in sujoud and remember du’aa is ibadah

Make a lot of du’aa in sujoud and remember du’aa is ibadah
and Allah loves those who ask Him…ask Him and beg Him… complain to Him… you are better off complaining to Him than to humans….He will never betray you, He will never let you down, He will never look down on you and He is the only one who can answer your needs.

How blessed are we to have conversation with our creator 5 times a day, to listen to us and to our problems and to grant us our wishes and forgives us for our sins every day.

You say Allah Akbar and He is there, you don’t need to stand in front of His door for hours or take an appointment or meet a mediator or a secretary, how generous is He?
Hopefully we will all pray from today differently and enjoy our prayers like never before In shaa Allah!
